Northern Home Care’s In-Home Services Unit is responsible to provide services to individuals 60 years of age and older,
and to individuals with disabilities who are under the age of 60.

For services to individuals with disabilities, referrals come from hospitals, home health care agencies, social service agencies,
housing authorities, family and neighbors. Northern Home Care staff make an initial home visit to determine what services
are needed and the frequency that services are to be delivered.

For individuals 60 years of age and older, referrals come through several Care Management Agencies (Lutheran Service
Society of Western Pa, Lifespan, Hill House Association, and Ursuline Senior Services) throughout Allegheny County and
the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging.

Some of the services offered in the home include personal care, attendant care and respite care.

The Allegheny County Department of Human Services and the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging fund the services.
At present, over 80 in-home service workers handle services for about 300 individuals.

Northern Home Care also provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, as well as
social work and home health aides.
